This is my 4th grade Science and Social Studies website for Grand Lake High School. My name is Brittany Higginbotham and I teach 4th grade Science and Social Studies. This site is designed to help with school-to-home communication between students, parents/guardians, and the teacher. On this site you will find many helpful things such as: schedules, classroom expectations, helpful resources, and upcoming events that are happening in our room!
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I'm excited to work with you and your child this year. I have a love for learning and I hope that my students will also learn to love learning as much as I do. By making my classroom a safe, fun and disciplined place, I hope that they will enjoy coming to my classroom and learn something new everyday! I feel that all children are different and require specific attention and affection for them to flourish. I will strive to be that for each and everyone of my students: a teacher/role model who loves each child that walks in her door and gives each of them not only an education, but a passion to learn and be the best person they can be! It's going to be a year full of fun, learning, lots of adventures, and many discoveries! I can't wait to get this year started to see what our future holds together! I thought you might want to know a little about me!
I was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I have an older brother and sister, and also a younger brother. When I graduated from high school I went to school in Mobile, Alabama and played college softball. After I graduated college, I came back home (Lake Charles) and started my first year of teaching in Calcasieu Parish. Shortly after, I met my husband Beau and together we have two four legged babies, Cooper and Layla. Several years, grades, and subjects later I was lucky enough to become a Hornet! I love the community here and I'm so blessed to be at Grand Lake!!
