Courtney Verzwyvelt

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the principal of Grand Lake High School. I am honored to be a part of a school with such a rich tradition of excellence. The 2023-2024 school year marks my twenty-forth year in education. My experience in the classroom as a teacher has ranged from early childhood to secondary education with majority of my experience found in the middle school science classroom. My years as an assistant principal are recent and have been very rewarding. I enjoy interacting with the students throughout their school day whether it be during transition in the hallway, in the gym at lunch, or at a sporting event cheering on our mighty Hornets! I encourage student's to strive for success in the classroom with their learning, on the field/court with athletics, interacting with their extracurricular activities, and in their careers once out of high school.

I believe that my job as an principal is prioritized into three areas: student safety, student success, and creating life-long learners among all of our students, as well as our faculty and staff. For students to learn, they must feel safe at school, both in the classroom and around the school campus. With a safe and productive learning environment, students and teachers will optimize their time at school communicating and building relationships at Grand Lake High School. This will lead students and teachers to continue their focus on student growth and achievement. Student success is rooted in creating life-long learners who develop the ability to self-reflect on their own progress, allowing them to adapt and communicate with teachers to make gains in their learning. In the same manner, teachers will continue to communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues to help our students achieve their highest level of success.

I look forward to another successful year at Grand Lake High School!

GO HORNETS!
