Part I: Research the author and the time period that the book was published.  Write a paragraph about the author.  What is the author's personal and professional background? What are the author's beliefs?  Why did he/she write the novel?  Write a second paragraph about the time period that the book was published.  What cultural, social, governmental, or economic events were happening?  Did any of these events influence the author? This part is due August 26th.
